Riverside Youth Judo Club ( jbotta posted on January 7th, 2014 )

The Youth Judo Club is a non-profit youth judo club that teaches the traditional art of Kodokan Judo.  This classical Japanese martial art is also described as Olympic Judo because of its popularity as a world sport.  Classes are offered to youth ages 5-17 years old at low to no cost.  Maximum monthly tuition for one student is $35/month.  The club pays for all association memberships and promotional costs.  There are no contracts and the club strives to never turn away a student because of their ability to pay.

The Riverside Youth Judo Club offers instruction to all youth and welcomes at-risk and special needs students.  The club has a dedicated staff of instructors who volunteer their time each class.  All instructors are certified USJA/USJF Black Belts.  A special emphasis is made to help each student become an outstanding member of society.

The Riverside Youth Judo Club has over 140 students.  It is ranked as the 2nd largest judo club in California and the 5th largest chartered judo club in the United States.  It is also supervises the All Riverside High Schools Judo Club which is an on-campus judo club for Riverside High School students.  The Riverside Youth Judo Club regularly competes in local, state, and national tournaments and is gaining an outstanding record of success.  See Judo Club’s website at www.riversideyouthjudo.com

Events and Tournaments

2015 California State Games:

The Riverside Youth Judo Club was the Top Winning Team at the CA State Games on Sunday, July 24, 2015, taking the 1st Place spot overall!  The club will be awarded a championship banner for being the Top Club!

Twenty-four competitors participated from our club and 22 of them won a medal- with 12 kids taking home a gold!

There were many great clubs at the event.  Most of the clubs are long-time clubs that operate as “commercial” programs (for profit).  The Riverside Youth Judo Club is one of the few Charitable Non-Profit and Police Activities League clubs left in existence.  It’s the support of all our friends and sponsors that have helped make the club such a success.

Thank you to everyone who has helped support our club!

2013 Winter Nationals

On December 6, 2013, the Riverside Youth Judo Club P.A.L. took six kids to the Winter Nationals Tournament at the Azusa Pacific University, Felix Event Center.  There were 600 competitors from all over the country.  All six kids fought their hearts out against several former state and national champions.  Three of our kids received medals — Unity C. took 1st place and Kelsie L. and Jenny C. took 3rd place.  Each of these kids are incredible and we are so proud of them.
